Laura's Trip to Chiang Dao
Laura Macdonald, from Canada made a trip to Chiang Dao district to witness the work of Rejoice.
On Wednesday, 24 October 2018 The Rejoice Team, Gee, Arm and Wi, together with Kanda and Noi, HIV volunteers (themselves HIV positive) from the group of HIV patients at Chiang Dao Hospital visited four homes of patients in Chiang Dao district.

What is the Ploenchit Fair?
The Ploenchit Fair is quite simply Bangkok’s Big Day Out. Arguably the biggest Fair in Asia, it has been part of the social scene in Thailand since the first Fair was held in The British Embassy in 1957. The original British Embassy building is no longer.
Suchat on the Mend
On our last visit, 4th July 2018, the Rejoice Team and healthcare volunteers from Chiang Dao Hospital found Suchat very ill.
He had stopped taking his medicine for over 10 months thinking that he was cured of HIV.
Chai Prakan House Calls
People living with HIV receive antiretroviral therapy (ART) which involves regular hospital visits, especially at the start of the therapy to determine which combination is the optimum for each patient. The drugs can have strong side-effects,
Scholarship Appeal
Rejoice currently directly assist over 1000 HIV+ patients and their families regularly on a weekly basis. The children of these patients and HIV/Aids orphans are eligible for educational scholarships. Currently 95 children have scholarships or are seeking scholarships through Rejoice.
HIV/Aids Class at Baan Muang Na School
Baan Muang Na School is situated close to the Myanmar border. It is multi-ethnic and multi-cultural in that the students are of Tai Yai (Shan), Lahu, Han Chinese and Thai backgrounds. The language of the school is Thai but the language of the home is usually that of the ethnic origin.
Keanoi School (Education and Prevention) August 2018
Our Education and Prevention programme continues in schools and communities given to basic, age appropriate, reproductive health education of youth. This has been achieved by networking with healthcare workers, schools and local communities together with other NGO’s. The objective of the meetings is to reduce unwanted pregnancies and to educate youth, so that they are aware how HIV and other sexually diseases are transmitted and how they can be prevented.
Patana School pre-med students visit Rejoice
Each summer over the past 4 years, groups of pre-med students from Patana International School, Bangkok have visited Maekok River Village Resort activity centre. During their visit Rejoice, together with the Resort staff and hospital staff, organise visits to hospitals in Chiang Mai Province.

Adherence to Therapy a Problem for Many Teenagers
Suchat is now 16 years old and HIV positive since birth. We featured Suchat in a previous SWAY, "Impact and Outcomes". These previous notes are added here for completeness.
We are very concerned for Suchat, a Lahu boy who will be 15 years old on 8th January 2017. He lives in the village of Hua Jakan where over 90% of the villagers are Lahu.
