Kasemsri is 55years old and is HIV positive. She lives with her daughter (Pan), who is HIV negative, in Sankampeang, about 20 km from Chiang Mai City.
Her husband died more than 25 years ago, because of Aids.
At that time HIV was not a common illness and was not well understood and access to antiretroviral medicine (ARV) was extremely limited. It was only because of her husband’s death that Kasemsri was tested for HIV and was found positive.
